Agripina lives in Bluefields, Nicaragua with her two sons, aged 11 and 16. Her neighborhood faces serious water issues and Agripina spends a large percentage of her time and monthly income finding safe, reliable water sources for her family.
Agripina does have a well in her backyard but this water is contaminated by human organic and inorganic waste. She must either walk over three miles to the community well or purchase bottled water; although this option is more convenient it is extremely expensive.
The new filter you donated has provided the family with a source of clean drinking water. For the first time, Agripina can pull water directly up from her well, filter it, and either drink it immediately or store it for later use. Thanks to this solution, she no longer needs to buy bottled water and has more money to spend on food, books, and supplies for her sons.
